BRIEF: Robber steals cash from Batavia business

May 07--Batavia police are investigating the robbery of a Wilson Street business Tuesday morning.

About 9:33 a.m., police received a 911 call from the clerk of the business, located on the 900 block of Wilson Street. The clerk said a man came into the business and grabbed an undetermined amount of cash from the register, police said in a news release.

The clerk said the man then ran away eastbound through the parking lot.

The man did not display a weapon and no injuries have been reported, police said.

Police arrived at the scene and checked the surrounding area with the help of a dog from the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Police describe the robber as Hispanic with a thin build, and about 30 to 40 years of age. He was wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants during the incident, police said.

Police said they are investigating several leads in the case.
