BRIEF: Rick Bayless has a new beer ... and a new brewery

May 22--A few days back, Chicago-Mexican food el presidente Rick Bayless announced he was getting into the beer game. La Guardia would be a beer brewed with hominy, epazote, lime peel and coriander, and would be the flagship beer tapped at his forthcoming brewery, called Cruz Blanca Cerveceria.

So this was the secret project Bayless has been talking about on Randolph! In interviews past, Bayless had mentioned there would be some woodfire component to his new restaurant, but now we're finding out more about Cruz Blanca, at 900 W. Randolph St. This from the company blog:

"Details are still getting ironed out, but the brewery will include a tasting room, food service, a growler program and the sale of large format bottles. It will be equipped with a 10-barrel brewing system."

Bayless won't reveal more for now, but according to the restaurant's Twitter handle, Cruz Blanca is slated for a fall opening.
