BRIEF: 'Rick and Morty' season 2 trailer is the dark and dirty 'Back to the Future' we need

July 01--"Whatever you're asking me, the answer is I'm amazing," says Rick to his grandchildren in the newly released trailer for the second season of "Rick and Morty."

And it's true.

"Rick and Morty" centers on Rick Sanchez (voiced by Justin Roiland), a genius scientist with alcoholic tendencies who drags his kindhearted grandson Morty (also voiced by Roiland) into intergalactic and interdemensional misadventures.

The burping scientist's habits and disregard for ordinary human convention leads to his unique way of problem solving that often leaves Morty in distress. It's a foul-smelling breath of fresh air in the animated world, and it's exciting to see it come back for a second season. And it looks like this new season is, once again, going to spin time-traveling tropes upside-down.

It seems that this season Rick's daughter Beth (Sarah Chalke), son-in-law Jerry (Chris Parnell) and granddaughter Summer (Spencer Grammer) will also be dragged into the scientist's adventures.

The second season of the Adult Swim series, co-created by Roiland and Dan Harmon, will kick off July 26.
