BRIEF: Restaurant openings: Nothing Bundt Cakes in Lincoln Park, Bub City's new location

Dec. 27--Nothing Bundt Cakes: Step aside, doughnuts. A bakery devoted to bundt cakes opens Sunday, Dec. 27 in Lincoln Park.

Nothing Bundt Cakes, a national chain with locations in 26 states, has already opened in Naperville, La Grange and Evanston. But the Chicago store, at Clybourn Avenue near Armitage Avenue, is "the first urban location in the country," says franchisee Erika Young, who will own and run the new bakery.

The shop, as you may guess from the name, serves only bundt cakes. There are four sizes -- from bite-sized "bundtinis" to two-tiered bundt cakes -- and ten flavors, Young says, including lemon, red velvet, pecan praline, cinnamon swirl and marble.

Hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Check the bakery's website for special events, including a Bubbles and Bundts party on Jan. 14 from 6-8 p.m. 1953 N. Clybourn Ave., www.nothingbundtcakes.com.

In case you missed it

Bub City, a country-themed barbecue restaurant originally located in River North, plans to open a second location in Rosemont in February.
