Feb. 12--We don't get to see much futuristic food in 'Back to the Future Part II' (it should be noted: When the movie came out in 1989, the "future" was 2015), but there is one iconic food scene: When Grandma and Grandpa McFly bring over a tiny, dehydrated pizza from Pizza Hut and pop it in a run-of-the-mill countertop rehydrator.
In conjunction with a Chicago Symphony Orchestra performance of the score from the original film, Tesori Trattoria Bar, the restaurant at Symphony Center, is playing on that scene with what they're calling the Marty McFly pie.
It's not dehydrated (sad for strict fans, but no doubt a good thing in terms of taste), but it does boast the same bright greens and reds of the pizza in the movie. It's topped with pepperoni, broccoli rabe and fresh mozzarella, with half marinara and half broccoli rabe pesto. It will sell for $15 -- a price unthinkable for pizza in Marty's 1985 world, but totally reasonable today. Welcome to the future.
Available 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, March 4 at Tesori Trattoria and Bar, 65 E. Adams St., 312-786-9911.
