Nov. 02--A day after landing its seventh victory, 24-20 against Temple, Notre Dame landed its fifth Class of 2017 oral commitment Sunday evening from 6-foot-4, 210-pound defensive end Robert Beal, according to multiple reports.
Beal confirmed the decision via Twitter late Monday morning.
He chose the Irish over Florida State and Georgia. The junior from Norcross (Ga.) High School also had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Illinois, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas among others.
The Irish offered Beal on May 11. He had 19 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks last year during his sophomore season. He had four sacks through the first seven games of this season.
He is ranked as the 73rd-best recruit overall in his class, and third overall at his position.
