BRIEF: 'Rent' extension cancelled at Theo Ubique

March 28--Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre will not be extending its sold-out production of "Rent" through the end of May, as previously announced.

The company had not cleared the extension (planned to run through May 29) with Music Theatre International, the production's licenser, before announcing the additional month of performances. The extension was subsequently not approved due to the 20th anniversary national tour of "Rent" planned for 2016-17, which was announced in January. The non-Equity tour is produced by Work Light Productions and complete dates and casting have yet to be announced.

A Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre representative confirmed that the box office will be reaching out to everyone who purchased tickets to performances after May 1.

As it stands, "Rent" will close May 1 at the No Exit Cafe, 6970 N. Glenwood Ave.
