Sept. 14--Danielle Colaprico has become the second straight Chicago Red Stars player to win the National Women's Soccer League rookie of the year award.
Colaprico, 22, a midfielder from the University of Virginia and Freehold, N.J., started all 21 matches for the Red Stars, who were knocked out of the NWSL playoffs Sunday with a 3-0 loss to FC Kansas City.
Defender Julie Johnston won the award last year.
Red Stars' forward Sofia Huerta also was among the three finalists for 2015 rookie of the year.
