BRIEF: Record rains in Texas disrupt Byron Nelson Championship

May 29--With the state of Texas enduring the wettest month in its recorded history, this might not be the best time to hold a golf tournament there.

On Friday, the second round of the Byron Nelson Championship was delayed after nearly five inches of rain fell on the TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas Golf Course in Irving overnight.

PGA Tour officials were hoping the course might dry enough to allow play after three or so hours.

"It really is amazing that you can host a Tour event after the weather that we've been getting the last month," Texas native Jordan Spieth said earlier this week. "It's brutal."

Rainfall in Texas is approaching 17 inches for May. Dozens of residents are missing or dead as a result of widespread flooding.
