BRIEF: Raytheon to move 250 jobs from Chula Vista, Norfolk, Va.

March 09--Raytheon Co., the aerospace and defense contracting giant, confirmed Monday it will move approximately 250 jobs from its Chula Vista and Norfolk, Va., sites to Indianapolis.

The company announced the move to employees last week, said Raytheon spokesman Mike Doble. The transition will consolidate jobs in depot work such as systems engineering, installation and upgrades and will take up to a year to complete, he said.

Doble did not have the exact number of jobs that will be moving from each location, but said a small number of employees will be retained at each site.

"The move allows us to improve our efficiency and competitiveness for our customers," Doble said in a statement.

The Chula Vista site in San Diego County, which specializes in intelligence, information and services, employs fewer than 100 people. The Norfolk site has about 300 employees.
