BRIEF: Rays lead White Sox 5-2

April 17--White Sox left-hander John Danks gave up two homers in the first four innings, and the Sox fell behind the Rays 5-2 through seven innings.

Brandon Guyer's solo shot to left field in the third inning was the Rays' second hit of the night.

After Steve Souza Jr. hit an RBI single in the fourth inning, Brad Miller followed with a two-run homer to right field for a four-run lead.

At the plate

Brett Lawrie hit his first Sox homer in the seventh inning off Steve Geltz. The two-run shot bounced off the catwalk above the left-field stands.

On the mound

Danks gave up five earned runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings.

In relief

Sox reliever Zach Putnam allowed a solo homer to Desmond Jennings to lead off the bottom of the eighth.
