Jan. 22--Raven Theatre's hit show "Direct from Death Row The Scottsboro Boys (An Evening of Vaudeville and Sorrow)" will return for a limited engagement in the summer of 2016, the company announced Friday.
The original production in Sept. 2015 received a four-star review in the Tribune; it's a vaudeville reimagining of the true story of nine African-American teens falsely accused of rape in 1930s Alabama -- not to be confused with Susan Stroman's 2002 "The Scottsboro Boys."
Returning for the remount July 21 to Aug. 21 is the complete original cast, including Kevin Patterson, Andrew Malone, Breon Arzell, Semaj Miller, Brandon Greenhouse, Tamarus Harvell, Katrina D. Richard, Charli Williams and Anna Dauzvardis.
The production will not be included in Raven's mainstage 2016-17 season, which will be announced at a later date. Raven Theatre is located at 6157 N. Clark St.
