BRIEF: Rauner names transition team leaders

Nov. 05--While Republican Bruce Rauner remained out of the public eye Wednesday, he sought to show that work was going on behind the scenes by announcing key members of his team that would oversee transition efforts one day after claiming victory over Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn.

Quinn has not conceded the race, and aides maintained Wednesday that "votes are still being counted."

Rauner's choice for lieutenant governor, Evelyn Sanguinetti, will chair the transition group. Deputy campaign manger Mike Zolnierowicz will serve as transition director, while campaign manager Chip Englander and Nancy Kimme, state Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka's chief of staff, were named advisers. Chief campaign spokesman Mike Schrimpf will carry on that role as communications director.

"I am committed to assembling a diverse and talented team to drive results for our state and bring back Illinois," Rauner said in a statement.

After blowing campaign contribution limits and pouring $27.6 million of his own money into his first bid for office, Rauner said the transition committee will limit contributions and disclose donors. Schrimpf said more details about those self-imposed regulations will be released "in the near future."
