BRIEF: Raptors coach Dwane Casey wins Rudy Tomjanovich award

April 25--Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey is the 2015-16 winner of the Rudy Tomjanovich award, presented annually by the Professional Basketball Writers Association to the coach who best combines on-court excellence with cooperation with media and fans.

In his fifth season with the Raptors, Casey led his team to a 56-26 record. He won the award in a vote of the PBWA's approximately 175 members over fellow finalists Steve Clifford of the Hornets, Brad Stevens of the Celtics, Doc Rivers of the Clippers and Stan Van Gundy of the Pistons.

The award is named for Tomjanovich, the former Rockets and Lakers coach who won two titles with Houston in his 13-year career while consistently maintaining a reputation for professionalism and respect with media and fans.

Casey will receive his award before the Raptors' Game 5 against the Pacers on Tuesday in Toronto.
