March 08--With a week to go before the Illinois primary, fast food workers and supporters rallied outside River North's Rock 'n' Roll McDonald's to call attention to their wage fight and cast themselves as a political force.
In addition to calling on elected officials to support a $15 hourly minimum wage and union rights, Tuesday's protesters turned out to advocate for immigration justice and an end to age discrimination and gender and language inequalities in low-wage workplaces.
Rallies organized by the Fight for $15 campaign have taken place around the country to coincide with presidential debates, primaries and caucuses.
