Oct. 04--A moisture-laden front from northern California is expected to reach the Los Angeles area early Sunday morning and produce steady rain throughout much of the day, according to National Weather Service.
Scattered showers are expected to begin between midnight and 4 a.m. Sunday, primarily in the San Gabriel Valley, San Gabriel Mountains and east Los Angeles County.
As the day progresses, all areas of the region should receive some rain, and snow flurries may occur in the mountains, said David Gomberg, a weather service meteorologist.
A tenth to a half inch of rain is expected for lower elevations while mountains could receive up to an inch of precipitation.
Highs on Sunday will be in the low to mid-70s throughout the Los Angeles Basin. Daytime temperatures in the mid-40s to low-50s are predicted for the mountains, along with winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph.
The chance of rain will diminish late Sunday and into Monday. However, rain and snow are likely after midnight Sunday in the higher elevations. The snow level will be above 7,500 feet, but no accumulation is predicted.
