Jan. 12--After a wet weekend, strong Santa Ana winds are expected to blow into Southern California on Tuesday, bringing gusts of up to 50 miles per hour.
The offshore winds will sweep through portions of Ventura and Los Angeles counties until Thursday.
Strong surface high pressure will build over the region on Monday, allowing for Santa Ana winds to kick in, according to the National Weather Service.
Because the recent rain has saturated the ground, some vulnerable trees could be knocked down.
This weekend's unexpected rainstorm brought much-need moisture to Los Angeles and Ventura counties, so the Santa Ana winds are unlikely to ratchet up the risk of wildfires, which are often pushed by the strong winds.
Cities such as Monte Nido, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Culver City received more than an inch of rain.
Downtown Los Angeles was soaked with nearly an inch of rain and Crystal Lake in Azusa received 2.44 inches of rain.
More than 2 inches of rain fell over the National Weather Service office in Oxnard.
