BRIEF: Rain may slow down morning commute

April 13--Scattered thunderstorms across the Chicago area may hamper Monday morning's commute for some residents.

As of about 5 a.m., rain started falling in the area and is expected to continue until about 9 a.m. or 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The storms would be especially likely south of Interstates 88 and 290, forecasters say.

Commuters are encouraged to drive carefully during the rainy weather.

"Any time it rains, commutes are pretty miserable," said National Weather Service meteorologist Gino Izzi.

But the weather is expected to clear up during afternoon. High temperatures are predicted to be in the mid 60s.
