BRIEF: Rahm Emanuel honors Martha Lavey and Steppenwolf Theatre Company

May 18--Chicago's Mayor Rahm Emanuel issued a pair of proclamations on Wednesday, one in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and the other recognizing the two decades of service by its former artistic director Martha Lavey.

Lavey is recovering from a stroke she suffered a year ago, shortly after leaving her post at Steppenwolf. But she appeared in good spirits at the Steppenwolf gala on Saturday night, greeting well-wishers and enjoyed a tribute from the theater's supporters.
