BRIEF: Puppy stolen at knife point on CTA Orange Line

July 30--An 8-month-old puppy was stolen at knife point from a rider on the CTA Orange Line, police said.

The theft took place about midnight Wednesday on a train headed for the 35th and Archer Orange Line stop, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The victim was approached by two men who grabbed the dog, police said. One of them threatened the victim with a knife and the other took the victim's pink dog carrier from the seat, Zala said.

The two got off the train at the 35th and Archer stop, and the victim ran after them but failed to catch them, Zala said.

The two were last seen heading southwest on Archer Avenue.

A detailed description of the two attackers was not available. Detectives were reviewing video to see if the crime was caught by surveillance cameras.
