Feb. 02--A fire at an Atwater Village property with "excessive personal storage" sent flames and plumes of smoke skyward early Monday morning.
No one was injured, but a pet dog had to be rescued in the blaze, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 7:12 a.m. near the intersection of Glendale Boulevard and Glenhurst Avenue. Firefighters arrived on the scene in less than five minutes.
Forty-five firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze in 28 minutes, Humphrey said.
Much of the fire burned on the outside of the single-story home, though some flames extended into the attic.
The backyard of the home was crowded, with a large tarp covering much of it. Officials said there was "excessive personal storage" in the yard, including two large dumpsters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
