BRIEF: Producer Barry Katz parts with his Malibu retreat

April 14--Producer Barry Katz has sold his perch above the Pacific Ocean in Malibu for $2,246,184.

The contemporary home, built in 1979, has panoramic views of the water, canyons and mountains. Vaulted ceilings, walls of glass and clerestory windows bring a light and airy vibe to the interiors.

The 3,074 square feet of space includes living and dining rooms, a glass-sided breakfast room, a den, an office, an oceanview bar, a loft, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Fireplaces are in the living room and master bedroom.

The one-acre grounds have gardens, lawn and a tile-edged swimming pool with a spa.

Katz, 55, has been a producer for such films as "Dumbbells" (2014), "My Best Friend's Girl" (2008) and "Good Luck Chuck" (2007). He was an executive producer for the series "Mr. Box Office" (2012-13) and "Whitney" (2011-13). He produces this year's upcoming TV movie "Brad Williams: Fun Size."

The prolific producer bought the property in 2008 for $2 million and listed it earlier this year at $2.5 million.

Chad Rogers of Hilton Hyland, an affiliate of Christie's International Real Estate, and Tracy Lynn Testin of Sotheby's International Realty were the listing agents. Testin also represented the buyer.
