BRIEF: Preview: Purdue at Northwestern

Line: Northwestern by 15.

Records: Purdue 2-7, 1-4 Big Ten; Northwestern 7-2, 3-2.

Last meeting: Northwestern won 38-14 on Nov. 22, 2014, in West Lafayette, Ind.

On the offensive: Justin Jackson is coming off a career-high 186-yard rushing game. QB Clayton Thorson is expected back after suffering a leg injury vs. Penn State. The line has been reshuffled because of injuries.

Getting defensive: Redshirt freshman LB Nate Hall stepped in for injured starter Jaylen Prater and finished with 10 tackles (seven solo) against Penn State. The Wildcats are one of seven teams in the country with at least three defensive TDs.

The number: 3. Career kickoff returns for touchdowns by sophomore Solomon Vault, a school record.

The talk: The Wildcats trail the all-time series (28-50-1) but have won three of the last four meetings and five of eight.

Fred Mitchell's pick: The Boilermakers are the perfect opponent for the Wildcats to send out their seniors with a win in their final home game at Ryan Field. Northwestern 38, Purdue 7.
