BRIEF: Preview: Northern Illinois at Miami of Ohio

Oct. 17--Internet/radio: 1:30 p.m. Saturday; ESPN3.com, WIND-AM 560, WLBK-AM 1360.

Line: NIU by 15.

Records: Northern Illinois 3-3, 1-1 MAC; Miami 1-5, 0-2.

Last meeting: Northern Illinois won 51-41 on Oct. 18, 2014, in DeKalb, Ill.

On the offensive: The Huskies are coming off their most productive performance of the year with 639 total yards and nine scores in 10 possession in last week's 59-41 win over Ball State. Miami allows an average of 35.3 points.

Getting defensive: NIU coach Rod Carey says conditions that resulted in 41 Ball State points will be fixed. The Redhawks are next-to-last nationally in scoring offense (15 ppg). Huskies CB Shawun Lurry leads the nation with six interceptions.

The number: 28. Second-quarter points for NIU last week, its most in a quarter since Nov. 9, 2010, against Toledo.

The talk: The Huskies are 0-3 on the road (at Ohio State, Boston College and Central Michigan) but haven't lost in Oxford, Ohio, since 1997 and are unbeaten against the MAC East in regular-season play since 2009.

Jack McCarthy's pick: Another productive offensive day and improvement on defense should end the road losing streak. Northern Illinois 35, Miami 7.
