BRIEF: Preview: Eastern Michigan at Northern Illinois

Line: NIU by 28.

Records: Eastern Michigan 1-6, 0-3 MAC; NIU 4-3, 2-1.

Last meeting: Northern Illinois won 28-17 on Oct. 25, 2014, in Ypsilanti, Mich.

On the offensive: Back-to-back weeks of high production have lifted the Huskies into a tie for 35th nationally with 35 points per game. RB Joel Bouagnon is 29th in the country in rushing (103.6 ypg).

Getting defensive: LB Bobby Jones IV was named the MAC West defensive player of the week after a career-high 13 tackles at Miami in his first start. Five Huskies, including two defensive players, have earned weekly honors this season.

The number: 109. Homecoming games, dating to a 1903 alumni game, for NIU, which claims to have the state's oldest major-college alumni gathering.

The talk: CB Shawun Lurry continues to lead the nation with seven interceptions, while the Huskies top the MAC and are tied for seventh nationally with 11 picks.

Jack McCarthy's pick: The Huskies are operating on all cylinders, and there's no reason to expect a letdown against an Eagles team that has lost five straight. Northern Illinois 52, Eastern Michigan 14.
