BRIEF: 'Pretty in Pink' to return to theaters for 30th anniversary

Jan. 14--Break out the shoulder pads. "Pretty in Pink" is slated to return to some theaters next month to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary.

John Hughes' romantic comedy, starring Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy as Chicago suburban teenagers figuring out the rules of love, is slated to be screened Feb. 14 and Feb. 17 in more than a dozen Chicago-area theaters. Tickets are available at fathomevents.com.

The movie was released Feb. 28, 1986, in the United States, and the limited theatrical screenings nationwide are expected to include never-before-seen alternate endings and behind-the-scenes footage.

The Fathom Events showings come a few weeks after another Hughes movie, "Home Alone," was re-released in theaters to celebrate the film's 25th anniversary. Hughes, a North Shore filmmaker, died in 2009.
