BRIEF: Presidential museum to reopen in Michigan

May 18--The newly renovated Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Mich., will be back in business as of June 7.

The museum devoted to the 38th U.S. president shut down last fall for construction work that included the addition of interactive exhibits and the nearly 8,000-square-foot DeVos Learning Center. Not everything is new; popular features like the replica of the Oval Office were left untouched.

Ford grew up in Grand Rapids, where he served as a congressman before becoming vice president and then president, after Richard Nixon resigned in 1974. He died in 2006 and is buried along with his wife, Betty, on the museum grounds at 303 Pearl St. NW.

Adult admission to the museum costs $7; 616-254-0400, www.fordlibrarymuseum.gov.
