June 09--"Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience -- A Parody by Dan and Jeff" will return to Chicago this winter, Broadway in Chicago said Tuesday.
Not unlike "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)"'s slice-and-dice treatment of Shakespeare's oeuvre, the Harry Potter spoof by British performers Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner condenses all seven of J.K. Rowling's fantasy books into a madcap 70 minutes.
The show last played Chicago, at both the Broadway Playhouse and the larger Harris Theatre, in winter 2012.
Back then, Tribune critic Chris Jones said of the parody, "Clarkson and Turner have the personas of older but not-yet-grown brothers whose goofy love of Potter only validates its importance."
"Potted Potter" will play the Broadway Playhouse, 175 E. Chestnut St. Performances begin on Dec. 2 and continue through Jan. 3.
