BRIEF: Police: Woman brings loaded gun into Midway

Feb. 23--A Lemont woman was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bail Monday after security officials found a gun in carry-on luggage at Midway International Airport, officials said.

Faith DuBois, 58, appeared at the Leighton Criminal Court Building after being arrested Sunday at Midway, according to Steve Campbell, a spokesman for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.

Du Bois of the 800 block of Woodcrest Lane in southwest suburban Lemont, was charged with boarding an aircraft with a weapon, a felony, police said. Criminal Court Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil set bail.

About 9:30 a.m. Sunday, an airport Transportation Security Administration officer spotted what appeared to be a weapon in Du Bois' carry-on bag while it was in the X-ray machine, police said.

A 9 mm gun was recovered and Du Bois was arrested and charged, police said, adding that no injuries were reported.

In court prosecutors said the gun was found in a white sock in the front pocket of her carry on bag. A magazine clip containing seven bullets was found alongside of the gun in the sock, Campbell said.

The woman had a valid FOID card but she did not have a permit to carry the weapon, according to prosecutors.
