BRIEF: Police warn residents of auto thefts on North Side

Dec. 08--Police are warning residents on the Near North Side and the North Side of a series of auto thefts that have occurred in the area over the past month.

Vehicles that people left unattended and running were taken by offenders in six different incidents between Nov. 4 and Saturday, according to an alert from the Chicago Police Department.

The six auto thefts took place during all hours of the day.

The latest auto theft occurred in the 1600 block of North Vine Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on Saturday.

Other incidents happened:

--In the 400 block of West Division Street in the Old Town neighborhood on Nov. 23

--In the 1900 block of North Sheffield Avenue in the Ranch Triangle neighborhood on Nov. 21

--In the 1600 block of North Wells Street In the Old Town Traingle on Nov. 18

--In the 200 block of West Scott Street in the Old Town neighborhood on Nov. 4

--In the 800 block of North Larrabee Street in the Goose Island neighborhood on Nov. 4

Chicago police encourage residents to be aware of their soundings and to not leave their vehicles running and unattended.
