BRIEF: Police warn of West Side burglaries

Jan. 15--Police are warning West Side residents of what they say is an increase in burglaries in Austin and West Garfield Park this month.

In each incident, a burglar or group of burglars kicked in or pried open a rear door of a home and took property, police said in a community alert.

The burglaries happened:

--Between Jan. 5 and 6 in the 100 block of North Lorel Avenue

--Between 8 a.m. and midnight Jan. 7 in the 5100 block of West Monroe Street

--Between 4:30 and 11:35 a.m. Jan. 8 in the 5200 block of West Adams Street

--Between 3:30 and 8 p.m. Jan. 9 in the 5200 block of West Congress Parkway

--Between 5 and 6:45 p.m. Jan. 12 in the 4200 block of West Congress Parkway

Police did not detail what was taken in the burglaries. Anyone with information can contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
