BRIEF: Police warn of robberies in Ravenswood

Nov. 11--Police are warning Ravenswood residents after two armed robberies in the neighborhood last Friday.

In each robbery, three men "used force and the threat of force by displaying a handgun" to rob people on the street of cellphones and laptops, police said in a statement.

One robbery took place about 7 p.m. in the 4600 block of North Paulina Street, and the second robbery took place about 8:45 p.m. more than a mile away in the 4700 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, police said.

The men police are seeking are described as between 18 and 25, black with medium complexion and wearing either dark gray or black hooded sweatshirts. In one robbery, one man was wearing a red skull cap, and another, who had cornrows, was armed with a blue steel handgun.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
