BRIEF: Police warn of garage burglaries in Lake View, Roscoe Village

Dec. 06--A string of burglaries over the last week and a half targeted garages on the North Side, police said.

Four incidents occurred overnight between Nov. 26 and Thursday in the Lake View and Roscoe Village neighborhoods, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs.

In all four cases an unknown offender entered garages without force and stole items from the garages or from vehicles parked there, the statement said.

The first burglary happened sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 26 and 10 a.m. Nov. 27 in the 2800 block of North Paulina Street. The second burglary occurred between 8 p.m. Nov. 27 and 8 a.m. Nov. 28 in the 2000 block of West Belmont Avenue.

The third incident happened between 9 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday in the 1700 block of West Diversey Parkway, and the last incident took place between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the 3000 block of North Hamilton Avenue.

Police urge residents to be aware of the recent burglaries and to not leave valuable property in their cars. Community members should report any suspicious activity in the area and alert their neighbors about the crimes.
