BRIEF: Police Warn of Armed Robberies in South Shore

Nov. 04--Police are warning South Shore residents of a string of armed robberies targeting women in the neighborhood that took place last month.

Police said at least three robberies happened in October in the area between East 71st Street and East 72nd Street and South Yates Boulevard and South Coles Avenue, according to a police community alert.

In each robbery, one or two men approached women as they were getting out of their vehicle, showed a handgun and announced a robbery, police said in a statement.

The gunmen are described as between the ages of 18 and 25 years-old. One man was described as heavy-set, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Chicago police detectives at (312) 747-8380.
