BRIEF: Police warn of armed robberies in Albany Park

June 10--Police are warning North Side residents after two recent armed robberies in the Albany Park neighborhood.

Both robberies happened in the 4300 block of North Francisco Avenue, according to a police community alert.

In the May 27 robbery, which happened about 2:50 a.m., three men approached someone in an alleyway, pointed a gun at the person's head and took money and a cellphone, police said.

Police described two of the men as black, about 6 feet tall and between 18 and 20 years old. The third man was described as black, about 6 feet and 25 to 30 years old.

In the second robbery, which happened about 3:50 p.m. June 7, a man was in an alleyway acting like he needed help and then struck someone on the head with a gun when the person approached offering assistance, police said in a statement.

The man was described as black Hispanic, about 6 foot and 140 pounds, and between 18 and 24 years old, according to the statement.
