BRIEF: Police warn of Andersonville, Magnolia Glen, Uptown burglaries

May 12--Police are looking for a man believed to be responsible for at least nine burglaries on the North Side since April 1.

The burglaries happened between Sheridan Avenue and Clark Street, and between Gunnison and Peterson avenues, according to police.

"In these incidents, unknown offender(s) have entered businesses through doors or windows by force using a pry tool or a blunt object," according to the release. "Items taken include cash, cash registers, cigarettes, batteries and other miscellaneous items."

Police were not able to describe the burglar in detail but said he has a bald head, is between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9, between 35 and 45 years old, and weighs anywhere from 170 to 190 pounds.

The burglaries happened in the blocks listed below:

5000 N. Sheridan Road on April 1 at 3 a.m.

5300 N. Broadway on April 2 at 3 a.m.

5200 N. Broadway on April 11 at 3:15 a.m.

1600 W. Foster Avenue on April 13 at 3 a.m.

5400 N. Broadway on April 17 at 10:15 p.m.

5200 N. Broadway on May 2 at 3:45 a.m.

5800 N. Broadway on May 3 at 12 a.m.

5200 N. Clark Street on May 5 at 6:15 a.m.

5700 N. Broadway on May 10 at 1 a.m.
