BRIEF: Police 'suspicious' of body found in Seal Beach flood channel

July 20--Suspicion surrounds the death of a man whose body was found Monday in a flood control channel in Seal Beach, authorities said.

Shortly before 12 p.m., a bystander saw the body in the channel near Rancho and Bolsa Chica roads, close to the border between Seal Beach and Westminster, according to a statement from the Seal Beach Police Department.

The death is "suspicious," police said, but authorities did not release details explaining the classification.

The victim is described as an Asian man between the ages of 40 and 50, police said.

An investigator with the Orange County coroner's office was sent to the scene, said Lt. Jeff Hallock, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

This post will be updated when more information becomes available.
