BRIEF: Police seek teens in West Side robberies

Nov. 04--Two teens are robbing people in the Grand Central district on the city's Northwest Side, according to police.

The robberies have happened in the afternoon over the last month or so: 5800 W. LeMoyne Street about 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 29, 4800 W. Kamerling Avenue about 8:10 p.m. on Oct. 1, 1500 N. Springfield Avenue about 5:10 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 1200 N. Kostner Avenue on Oct. 29 about 4:40 p.m.

The attacks all happened south of North Avenue in the North Austin, West Humboldt Park, and Humboldt Park neighborhoods on the West Side.

Both of the robbers are described by police as black, 13-18 years old, 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-9. They weighed about 120 pounds, had curly hair, dark complexions and wore hooded sweaters.

Police announced the robberies in a community alert released Monday. It made no mention of a weapon but said the two teens used "force or the threat of force to take personal property."

Police are asking anyone with information about the attacks to call detectives at (312) 744-8263.
