BRIEF: Police seek man who used 'long gun' to rob New Lenox store

Jan. 09--Police are searching for a man who brandished a "long gun," like a rifle or a shotgun, while robbing a 7-Eleven in New Lenox, police said.

The robbery occurred about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of East U.S. Route 30, New Lenox police said.

A white man in his 50s, who was wearing a Carhart jacket and a scarf over his face, showed the sales clerk a "long gun" in his jacket and demanded money, Deputy Chief Robert Pawlisz said.

The clerk gave him a small sum of money and he left, Pawlisz said.

No one else was in the store and the clerk wasn't injured. The incident remains under investigation.
