BRIEF: Police seek man who sexually abused girl in Hermosa

Dec. 02--Police are asking for help in finding a man who sexually abused a 17-year-old girl while she was walking on her way to school Tuesday morning in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The girl was walking north in the 2300 block of North Kildare Avenue about 7:50 a.m. when a Hispanic man, age 20 to 30, tried to start a conversation while walking by her side, according to a Chicago police alert.

The man talked to the girl in Spanish and asked her personal questions. The man then hugged the girl and tried to touch her buttocks. The girl pushed the man away and took out her phone.

He ran away in an unknown direction, according to the alert.

The suspect is 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5 and weighs 145 to 165 pounds. He was clean-shaven with short dark hair and dark eyes. He was wearing a tan jacket with a hood, the alert said.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident should call Area North detectives at 312-744-8261.
