BRIEF: Police seek help identifying suspect in fatal Little Village shooting

Nov. 18--Chicago police are seeking help in finding a suspect in a shooting that killed a 23-year-old man early November in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side, authorities said.

The 23-year-old man, identified as Eric T. Jones, died after he was critically wounded in the chest in the 4000 block of West 31st Street around 8:34 a.m. on Nov. 1, according to a release from the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police said Jones was walking on the street when a male attacker pulled out a weapon and fired shots in his direction, striking him in the chest.

The shooter then got inside a red or maroon late model GMC Terrain and fled, according to the release.

Jones, of the first block of Hickory Trace Drive in southwest suburban Justice, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:33 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

Police said the 23-year-old was a documented gang member and a convicted felon.

Anyone with information about the shooting suspect should call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
