BRIEF: Police searching for parents of children found on Long Beach street

Oct. 31--Police are searching for the parents or guardians of two children found Thursday on the streets of Long Beach.

The two boys, about 1 and 2 years old, were spotted about 8:45 a.m. on Atlantic Avenue and 60th Street after a passerby reported they were alone, the Long Beach Police Department said.

The children appear to be in good health. The older boy was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and sandals, and the younger child was wearing a T-shirt and a diaper.

Witnesses told police that no one was seen with the children or dropping them off. Investigators canvassed a two-block area, but no one recognized the children.

The boys are in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services. All law enforcement agencies in L.A. County, as well as the five surrounding counties, have been notified about the two children.

Anyone who recognizes the children or has any information regarding their identity or the identity of their parents is urged to call Long Beach Police Communications at (562) 435-6711 or 911 if in the city of Long Beach.
