BRIEF: Police search for suspect, truck after fatal Hollywood stabbing

April 23--A man was stabbed to death early Wednesday in a Hollywood parking lot, and the suspect is believed to have fled in the victim's pickup, police said.

Police found the body of a man in his 20s just after 8:30 a.m. in a parking lot in the 1700 block of North Cherokee Avenue, just north of Hollywood Boulevard, in an area frequented by tourists, said LAPD Officer Tony Im.

The victim, whose name has not been released, apparently was standing next to a vehicle when he was stabbed, police said. The suspect is described as a 25-year-old black man, about 6 feet, 1 inch tall and 170 pounds with a tattoo on his right arm, Im said.

The suspect is believed to have fled in the victim's truck, a dark brown 2005 Ford F-150 with the North Carolina license plate number CLJ5472, Im said. Police were still searching for the truck Wednesday evening.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
