BRIEF: Police search for missing woman with dementia

Sept. 04--Police officers are asking for help in finding a missing 79-year-old woman who has dementia.

Maria Nieves was last seen Thursday near West 69th Street and South Hamlin Avenue in the West Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side, according to a release from the Chicago Police Department.

Nieves is 5-foot-4 and weighs about 140 pounds. She has brown eyes, brown hair and a light complexion, and has dementia, according to authorities.

She was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt with black designs on the front, blue jeans and gray gym shoes.

Anyone with information about Nieves' whereabouts should call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
