BRIEF: Police search for gunman near Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park

April 30--Authorities were searching Wednesday evening for one person near Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park who police say was involved in shooting at a detective during a vehicle chase.

The chase began in neighboring Fremont and Newark, but crossed into Menlo Park shortly before 5:30 p.m., police dispatcher John Murphy said.

Three people had been in the vehicle but dumped it near Willow Road and Hamilton Avenue, about a quarter-mile from Facebook's headquarters, and fled on foot, Murphy said.

At some point, one of the three people fired at a Menlo Park police detective, who was not struck by bullets, Murphy said.

Two of people have been taken into police custody, officials said. Their identities were not released.
