BRIEF: Police release sketch of suspect in sex assault of jogger in Will County

Sept. 09--Illinois State Police have released a sketch of a man suspected of the sexual assault of a woman on Sunday along the Illinois Michigan Canal in Will County.

The woman was jogging about 10:30 a.m. on the path along the canal near Larkin Avenue between Joliet and Rockdale when she was assaulted, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10 with black hair. He was wearing dark sweatpants, a white T-shirt, and a long-sleeve orange shirt. He spoke "with a heavy accent," police said.

A police sketch artist with the Cook County sheriff's police completed the composite sketch of the suspect.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call 911 or contact Illinois State Police Zone 3 investigations at (847) 722-2865.
