March 23--Two men were wounded during shootings in the Ravenswood and Lawndale neighborhoods Sunday.
Most recently, about 6:35 p.m. someone shot a man in the head in the 2200 block of West Winnemac Avenue, on the city's North Side, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.
The man was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, said Sweeney, who had no further details.
Earlier, a 46-year-old man was outside in the 700 block of South Kenneth Avenue in the city's Lawndale neighborhood when two vehicles drove past and someone inside one of them fired shots in his direction and he was hit in the mouth, police said.
The bullet is lodged in his jaw, but he is expected to survive. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where his condition had stabilized, police said.
It happened at 1:20 p.m. and police initially responded to a battery in progress.
Detectives are speaking with someone who is not believed to be the shooter in the Kenneth attack.
