July 12--Bail was set at $900,000 Saturday for a 25-year-old man accused of a fatal shooting on the South Side in September.
Joshua J. Ford appeared for a hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building where the bail was set.
Ford, of the 600 block of East 73rd Street, was charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Richard Johnson, police said.
Ford was identified as the person who walked up and opened fire at a vehicle multiple times as it traveled east in the 7700 block of South Stewart Avenue in the Winneconna Parkway neighborhood about 2:40 a.m. Sept. 21, police said.
Johnson, a passenger, was hit in the head and pronounced dead later that day at 9:09 a.m. at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
An autopsy determined that Johnson, who lived in the 600 block of East 133rd Street in the Riverdale community on Chicago's Far South Side, died of a gunshot wound to the chest, the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
Johnson was shot by someone known to him, police said at the time.
