BRIEF: Police: Motorist drives mile after being shot in face

Feb. 28--An 18-year-old man was shot in the face while inside a car Friday afternoon on the West Side.

It happened at 5:05 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Wabansia Avenue when a gunman approached on foot and fired several shots, hitting him in the face, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon.

The 18-year-old then fled in the car and ended up about a mile away at Augusta Boulevard and Cicero Avenue, according to Lemmon.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Lemmon said.
