BRIEF: Police: Man tries to lure girl on Southwest Side

March 08--Police are seeking a man who attempted to lure a girl into his car Saturday afternoon on the Southwest Side.

The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. in the Marquette Park neighborhood, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs.

The girl was in the 7100 block of South Mozart Avenue when a black man, in his 60s, tried to get her to come inside his black Nissan Armada, which looked dirty, according to the statement. The girl refused and ran away. The man then fled the scene in the Nissan.

The man has a medium complexion and short gray hair. He was also wearing a green T-shirt, according to the statement.

Police urge residents to report any suspicious persons and not let their children walk or play alone outside.

Anyone with information about the incident or the man should contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
